Responsible for the operation of the four Bureaus (Jail, Operations, Support Services and Communications).  The department consists of 275 full-time employees with a budget in excess of $17 million and covers a county of over 140,000 people and 1,310 square miles.  In addition, the county attracts a significant number of people for the various recreational opportunities.

The program is Idaho Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) certified for Basic Training.
